The splendid, opulent residences built around the lake will attract visitors who will also find many panoramas and landscapes reminiscent of England’s countryside, from where most Eastern Townships towns name where inspired from. Today, the quality and the originality of its restaurants, gift, craft, and antique shops will charm visitors. The centre of the village features a waterfall, to the immense pleasure of those strolling in the calm, natural surroundings of Coldbrook Park. Every autumn, a gourmet event celebrates the world-famous Brome Lake duck. At Christmas, businesses and residences alike are trimmed with fabulous decorations, creating a vision of Christmas in a bygone era. Every year, on the first Saturday of December, young and young-at-heart gather to watch the traditional Santa Claus Parade where none other than Saint Nick himself doles out candies and smiles to visitors! With a superabundance of rural scenery, the region offers visitors a true breath of fresh air, a sort of passport to escape, to nature, and to beautiful music at the Knowlton Music Festival.

Knowlton, a lively Victorian village on the shores of Brome Lake

Founded in 1821, Knowlton is part of tha association of The Most Beautiful Villages of Quebec. On the shores of a magnificent five- kilometre wide lake, Knowlton is at once a blooming, shady and festive village, especially during the summer and weekends. Vacationers gather here to enjoy aquatic activities on the lake, the beauty of the surrounding landscapes, and the quaint charm of the streets, which are lined with specialized boutiques, antique shops, and cafés.

Lac-Brome is located centrally from the main ski resorts of the region, whether it be Bromont (20 minutes), Jay Peak (40 minutes), Orford (30 minutes), Owl's Head (30 minutes) or Sutton (20 minutes).

 

 

 

Biking

Several trails are available to cyclists. The choice is yours depending on your interests!

Boating access to the lake Marina Knowlton

Tiffany Park offers access to Brome Lake for boaters and windsurfers. Parking is free and there are picnic tables and portable toilets on site. For larger boats, two boat launch are available for a small fee at Knowlton Marina and Camping des Érables

 

 

Canoë, kayak, windsurf and small boat launch (access only)

Amateurs of canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing and small boats can use the public boat launch located at the Tiffany Park on Lakeside Road (Route 243) to access the lake and Quilliams wildlife reserve (photo 1, photo 2). For larger boats, it is recommended to use the wharf at the Knowlton Marina or at Camping des Érables.

Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing

Several walking trails are well suited to cross-country skiing. The different sections of the linear path, Fisher Wood Reserve, the trail at Calls Mills Park and even the lake, weather permitting!

Access to the lake from Tiffany Park or Camping des Érables.

Golf

There are two public golf courses in Lac-Brome: the 18-hole executive of Club de golf Lac-Brome or 18 holes of Club de golf Inverness.

 

 

 

Hiking

Walking pathsA network of natural trails meanders through Lac-Brome. Come and explore our lovely surroundings!

Please respect other users by keeping your dog on a leash at all times, and by picking up after your dog.

Please note that motorized vehicles are not permitted on the trails.

Other trails are accessible in the region. It should be noted that access to several trails is prohibited during the hunting season in early November and during the spring thaw in April.

Horseback riding

The equestrian center Lombart (exit 74 of Highway 10) provides nature trails for riders of all levels. 450 534-2084.

Parks

In each village of Lac-Brome, parks bring together neighbors, friends and families. Our parks reflect the uniqueness of each sector and we invite you to discover them!

In the village of Knowlton is found Coldbrook Park, the picturesque park along the Mill Pond. In West-Brome, a short path at Calls Mills Park will guide you towards the river. Other small parks are also accessible at Fulford Davis Park, West Brome Edwards Park, Foster Ovide Dagenais Park and Bondville Prouty Park. For young children who need to let out an excess of energy, there is also the Lions Park in Knowlton, the École Internationale St-Édouard park or Knowlton Academy Park (summer and weekends only).

At Douglass Beach, 215 Lakeside Rd (route 243 you will discover our beautiful, natural, sandy beach on the shores of Brome Lake!  Located not more than a stone’s throw from the heart of Knowlton village, Douglass Beach offers safe swimming, a picnic area with lovely views out over the water as well a canteen, a beach volleyball court and walking paths. This is an excellent swimming area for young children since the water level drops very gradually. Access to the lake is also open to the public on the same road at Tiffany Park. Tennis

Tennis courts are accessible at Lions Park in Knowlton and Ovide Dagenais Park in Foster.
